The El Dorado 12 Year Old Special Reserve Rum is blended from aged stocks (the youngest being no less than 12 years old) from the original Wooden Enmore Coffey still, the original metal Diamond Coffey still, as well as from the ancient Port Mourant double wooden pot still which was used to produce ‘navy’ rum for the English Admiralty. All of the Demerara Rum produced by El Dorado is aged exclusively in American oak (bourbon barrels).
Chris Blackwell, the inspiration behind Blackwell Fine Jamaican Rum, hails from one of Jamaica’s oldest merchant families. Although Blackwell was born in London, he spent his childhood in Jamaica and after attending school back in England, returned to the country. In 1959, Chris Blackwell created Island Records, bringing Reggae music to the attention of international audiences – one of his most noted achievements was gaining recognition for Bob Marley & The Wailers.
Created from a traditional family recipe, Blackwell Fine Jamaican Rum is a rich, fragrant spirit that has been barrel aged for one year and infused with tropical flavors. A bold molasses note on both the nose and palate is complemented by hints of coffee, clove and spice which lead to toasted coconut on the finish.
Ron Barcelo Imperial’s coup d”tat on the rum world is well known as it attained the title of the “World’s Best Rum” after attaining a staggering 97 points out of 100, this being one of the highest scores in the history of the prestigious Beverage Testing Institute of Chicago. Such quality isn’t easily attained. Barcelo Imperial is produced in one of the most modern distilling plants in the region. Perfection comes from using sugar honey from the finest sugarcane in the Caribbean and naturally aging for ten years in Kentucky Bourbon casks.
Production of this unique rum starts with the Solera system using rum that is 1, 4 and 6 years old, followed by 9 years of maturing in Bourbon casks. The resulting, very special woody note is this rum’s signature. A multi-level and powerful rum with pleasant flavor, long on the palate.
In 2005 and 2006 consecutively, Ron Añejo was awarded the designation of best Cuban rum. Enjoy it neat at room temperature or ‘on the rocks’.
