Osoyoos Larose

Merlot 50%, Cabernet Sauvignon 24%, Petit Verdot 13%, Cabernet Franc 9%, Malbec 4%. Production 6,500 cases.  The wine begins with aromas of vanilla and cassis and continues with flavours of black cherry and black currants, along with hints of espresso and dark chocolate on the finish. The wine has great elegance and polish.

 

 

Mission Hill Oculus

An Oculus was first used by the Romans in buildings like the Pantheon – a window in a dome or wall to the outside. At Mission Hill, our oculus provides the only natural light into our underground barrel cellar, blasted out of volcanic rock that is otherwise hidden from the world. Our complex Oculus Bordeaux-style wine is the result of meticulous selection in the vineyard estate with grapes that have been specifically nurtured for this rare wine. Hand-sorted grapes are gravity-filled into specially constructed French oak fermenters before gently laying the wine to rest in individual barrels. Rich and powerful, this wine was sourced from designated Oculus blocks in our Osoyoos (100%) vineyard estates from low-yielding vines.

Black Hills Nota Bene

Black Hills Estate Winery was established in 1996 and proudly presents wines that have been carefully hand-crafted from vineyard to bottle. The terroir on our 27 acre vineyard on Black Sage Road is some of the most exceptional in Canada. A combination of rugged desert earth, long sunlight hours and cool nights yields the intensely flavoured grapes for which we are renowned. The deep sand and intense heat of this micro-climate enable the growth of exceptional Bordeaux grapes which are carefully hand-picked by our team.

In the winery, painstakingly exact vinification techniques are employed by our Winemaking Team to truly reflect this terroir. The resulting wine has been extremely approachable; which in turn has created an intensely loyal following with wine enthusiasts across the country.

Tasting Notes

The 2013 Nota Bene has proven to be yet another outstanding vintage. Its tantalizing signature of sweet, ripe cherry complimented by its dusty earth undertones is salivating. Rich, smooth tannins coatthe palate resulting in a juicy mouth feel with an alluring gilt of violets, flowery undertones and a lingering finish reminiscent of a sweet cigar box. Medium-full bodied with well integrated tannins and a lengthy weigh that would pair most perfectly with robust BBQ red meats, Bison and grilled vegetables.
