Tapiz Alta Malbec

The 2015 Tapiz Alta Malbec is nothing short of outstanding this vintage!!! This wine is a dark purple in the glass and bursts with amazing aromas of rich, dark fruit, framed by a floral note and spice. The wine is fresh and juicy, refined and polished. Only 3250 cases were made of this stunning Malbec that competes with wines at twice the price point! This wine is amazing on it’s own – or with food. It would be a great match for steak, ribs, prime rib, or cheese. It is drinking beautifully now, and will last 5 or more years in your cellar.

Luca Malbec

This old vines Malbec shows a fine combination of blackberry, smoke and mocha aromas. It’s in tip-top shape on the palate, although the acidity is a bit wiry. Oaky flavors of vanilla and mocha work well with its black cherry and blackberry fruit, which is unwavering on the finish.

Achaval Ferrer Malbec

For those of you who love Malbec’s mixture of plum and berry fruit, but do not enjoy the occasionally oakier, riper side of this varietal’s style as it is often made in Argentina, this is the perfect Malbec for you. Year after year, it is a wine that is lively on the palate, brighter tasting than many of its similarly priced competitors. The consistent quality is no surprise, given the careful sourcing of fruit from long-term contracted, mature and even old vineyards in Lujan de Cuyo, San Carlos (Uco Valley) and Medrano. Aged in French oak for a brief 9 months, this elegant mid-weight, with plum and huckleberry fruit flavors and lovely acid balance, shows that Malbec does not need to be over-oaked or over-extracted, and indeed is all the better for delivering its simple, fruitier, more food friendly side of its personality.
