Dona Paula 1100

TheDona Paula 1100 (Altitude) Red Blend was quite minty and balsamic with influence from the oak (it had one year in new and used French oak barrels). This is a blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from alluvial soils with great calcium carbonate content at high altitude, supposedly 1,100 meters, in the Altamira zone of San Carlos. This is a great, subtle and mineral red blend where the grapes are nicely integrated but the Malbec seems to dominate the aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied, has a silky texture, great acidity and very fine tannins. At this price level this is extremely good.
