Rudius Cabernet Sauvignon Panek Vineyard ~ SOLD OUT
Though Panek Vineyard is located on what many would consider the valley floor, its unique position on a subtle anticline just behind the historic Aida vineyard, creates ideal conditions for producing distinctive wines. The gently slope of this rocky knoll encourages optimal soil drainage, leading to low yields—averaging between two to three tons per acre. Also, the vineyard benefits from its location within a cooler microclimate. This low-lying area of the Napa Valley is more temperate than either the eastern or western hills of St Helena, providing conditions for slower ripening and complete integration of flavors. Panek vineyard beautifully expresses the characteristics of its location within the St Helena appellation.
The Panek Vineyard, simply put, is made for a year like 2013! Typically plush, bright and singing with vine-ripe blueberry and hints of violet, this year’s Panek is beholden to the structure and intensity of the vintage. The fruit elements that define this single-vineyard Cabernet are ever-present but hints of graphite and warm bergamot-scented tea give the wine a notably darker demeanor. While Rudius’ Panek Cabernet has always loved a little rest breathing room or cellar age to show its best, we have no doubt that the 2013 vintage will be the longest lived bottling of this wine that they have delivered to date!
